floppy-drive-sony-mpf920
Diskettedrev, Sony MPF920, Amiga/PC

Used, refurbished Sony MPF920 floppy drive, in open antistatic bag. Tested as working without issues.

Available (when supplies allow it) as either:

Original state for PC computers (double density + high density)

Modded for Amiga computers (DF0, double density)

Black or white front plate

Note on the HD sensor for Amiga modded drives

The Amiga modded drives have the HD sensor disabled, which means you can format and use HD (high density) floppies as DD (double density) floppies without sticking tape on the floppy. This also means that you cannot use the drive to read/write proper HD floppies (Amigas such as the 500, 600, 1200 are not capable of this). If you intend to use an Amiga modded drive in an Amiga capable of reading them (such as the A4000), then let me know when ordering and I will make sure that your drive has the HD sensor enabled.

Use in A500, A600, A1200 as DF0

Even though the drive will work as intended with Amiga 500, 600 and 1200, it will not fit physically inside these computers without replacing the eject button (replacement button not included here), removing the front panel, and in some cases, cutting the metal casing and/or adjusting the drive mount height with spacers/washers. Using these drives in A500, A600, A1200 is only encouraged if you are ready to do modifications like these. Instructions for physically fitting the drive in your Amiga are not included.

The Amiga modded drives will fit without modifications in most external floppy casings and big-box Amigas, though.

Use with Greaseweazle

If you intend to use the drive with a Greaseweazle, please note that a PC drive will be able to read/write Amiga floppies without any issues, as well as other systems. There is no need to get a modded drive for this purpose, although it will indeed work.
